.htaccess problems on Unix / Apache
I've just installed Zen cart 1.3.9h on an ISPs shared server running FreeBSD 7.4 & Apache 1.3.33 (Donhost UK).
I kept getting server errors trying to access admin & other pages and eventually renamed all .htaccess files.
Everything now works, but I cannot understand why the .htaccess files are causing problems - I though they were Apache specific?
Any help appreciated.
Re: .htaccess problems on Unix / Apache
They are indeed intended for Apache.
You may have some configuration issues in your Apache setup that are creating conflicts. The supplied .htaccess files explain the requirements.
Also take serious note of the fact that your Apache version is obsolete, officially end-of-life, and no longer supported by Apache, nor with future versions of Zen Cart.
