Questions Re Zen Cart

I want a e-commerce website with two areas . The first is the general area is for everyone. The second is one for licensees (people who buy licenses to manufacture and sell a product I've developed). This second area is password protected. The only way to access that area is buy a license and register. This is because there are information links there that I don't want exposed to the general public.

The first area has information designed for the general public and has a shopping cart. The shopping cart is for selling different kinds of licenses to manufacture and sell a product I've developed.

Once someone buys a license they need to register. This is like some e-commerce sites that give the option of opening an account when you buy. If you choose to have an account, you enter certain info (like registering). In this case, registration is required.

At registration time they enter a username, enter a password, get a ID number and then enter data specified in Appendix 1. After payment is confirmed and they have input the needed info (Appendix 1), they can access the second area with the username and password entered during registration. The second area also has a provision for paying license renewal fees.

I need the information entered during registration saved in either a text or database file. I may be putting some of the info gotten during registration into an offline program.

I will be using PayPal to handle payments.


Please tell me if Zen Cart can do to implement this (Note 1)

I may have to use different software to handle entering and exiting the second area after registering. If that is so, the other software needs to share the password information with Agora.

Zen Cart has most of the building blocks to allow it to be extended in this way, but doesn't do this out of the box. But then nor do any of the other major carts, so you probably have some customisation to do whichever you use.
