Hi my site is not working anymore
how to add some text to let the customers know that we are updating the site and that it will be ready soon?
it can be on the top of the site, what template file to edit?

Can you set the site to "down for maintenance"?
Configuration > Website Maintenance > Down for Maintenance: ON/OFF

You could place the message in define_main_page using the Admin - Tools - Define Pages Editor.

the site is not functional, i cant even log in, i think it was damaged on purpose by previous designer
what file to edit on ftp?

includes/languages/english/html_includes/YOUR_TEMPLATE_NAME/define_main_page.php.

well it did not work, the text only shows on home page, i need it to be shown on every page of the site is that possible
I want to put it where the <body> start, above the top menu

in the template folder for the template you are using, common/tpl_header.php
