red flag Filter Payments According to Websites - Reporting on Paypal

We use Paypal Express on 4 of our websites all linked to 1 paypal account.

On the Paypal website all payments are one below the other and there is no way to filter the payments Website-Wise.

I emailed Paypal and they told us to contact a API developer for the same.
How can a developer help us in this case, we want the reports on the Paypal website itself.

It's very difficult to tally the payments this way.

Can somebody please guide us a better way.

red flag Passing Custom Variable to Paypal

    Hi,
We have 4 zencarts attached to 1 Paypal account.
We would like to pass the website name to Paypal so that it will be easier for us to Track the payments according to the websites.
As of now all the payments shows are mixed.

I emailed Paypal and they gave us the reply below:

"To distinguish payments from one site to another, you can pass the "custom" variable with a unique value for each site. That way you can tell which payments came from which site. For more information on the custom variable, please review the following document.
NVP Developer Guide (top of page 64):
    https://cms.paypal.com/cms_content/U...loperGuide.pdf "

Can we pass this using the paypalwpp.php file or any other method.

    This would be very helpful.

    Thanks

DO NOT use the "custom" variable. Zen Cart uses that for internal processing purposes.

v1.3.9h passes the info you need in the InvNum variable. It's a combination of the customer number, a timestamp, and the first 30 characters of your store name.

    Great Dy Byte.

We replaced the 4 Paypal files from 1.3.9h.

Any problem we will get back to you.

However sure it will work, this is exactly what we wanted.

    Thanks a ton.

IMPORTANT: If you just selectively replaced 4 files without ALSO including all the other files changed from the version you had before you replaced those files, then you may run into problems.
YOU SHOULD NEVER JUST BLINDLY REPLACE "SELECTED" FILES. The PHP files in Zen Cart are DEPENDENT ON EACH OTHER. If you're going to replace files to add features from a newer version THEN YOU MUST upgrade ALL THE FILES affecting the version change.

Don't be lazy. Do it correctly. We put a LOT of time into making things work well together and minimize support troubles. But if you choose to cheat and end up with problems, don't expect us to be supporting you when you don't follow instructions. It's offensive when you do things like that.

    Noted and Apologies.
    Will replace everything.
    Guess it did not work.

One last question, where will the Variable (storename) show.

It will be only helpful if it shows on the first screen where all the list of payments are displayed so that we need not enter into each payment to find out the website it's related to.

There is no way to change the transactions submitted by Zen Cart so that they show up in your PayPal account's home screen as listed "by store". (Even their own suggestion to you would NOT accomplish that feat.)
You would need to use their transaction search screen, probably in advanced mode, to access the extended data fields.

red flag Re: Filter Payments According to Websites - Reporting on Paypal

    Hi,

As of now Zencart passes "2827-1333041764-[WebsiteName]" in the Invoice number field, we cannot use this to filter transactions website wise due to the numbers attached with the website name.

We would just like to pass our website name on the reports.

    How can we do this.

What is the best way to reconcile payments ?

We use 5 websites on 1 Paypal account and reconciling payments is a very tedious job as we have to open each transaction to see which website it refers to and then check on that particular website.

    Please guide.

red flag Re: Filter Payments According to Websites - Reporting on Paypal

Can we change the InvNum to only show Store Name, will this cause any problem ?

Can we add any other variable which is allowed by Paypal API to paypalwpp.php ?

Basically just want to pass a unique variable so that we can filter payments by this variable on paypal reports.

    Please reply.
