Default Coupon Restrict - Allow Multiple Products

    The following scenario:

Setup a coupon with 100% off and allow unlimited usage without any zone restrictions.

Go to Coupon Restrict and ALLOW 2 different products.

You can now use this coupon to purchase ANYTHING in the store, regardless of which product it is.

If you reduce the number of allowed products to 1, it will only allow you to purchase that one product.

The best thing, when using restrictions, is to always add the:
    Category Top DENY

This prevents anything from being used that is not marked as ALLOW ...

While that will work, shouldn't it be more intuitive and do that automatically if someone just wants to allow the coupon for a few different products? I'd say this is a bug since it does work if you only ALLOW one product but then doesn't work if you ALLOW multiple products (or at least 2 in my testing).

We can see how that can be confusing for folks ...

We will be working on that for v2.0 so that there is no confusion or conflict in the method that the Discount Coupon definitions work to avoid that problem, especially for the folks that do not test things to see that they should always use the method that I posted ...

    Thanks for your suggestions!

Ajeh, I have a client that wanted to restrict the coupon to a single category. I put DENY to the Category Top and then ALLOW for the single category, and it wouldn't accept the coupon ever. So, it looks like when restricting to categories, it works as someone would expect (although I haven't tested with multiple ALLOW categories).

There is a lot of guess work in the coupon restrictions tool. Because you wrote it you know exactly how the logic works but I think for the common user they will just get confused. I haven't dug into the code to see the exact problem, but I can tell from the user's perspective there is a problem. Perhaps this could get looked at for v1.5?

    I cannot reproduce that ...

    I set Top Deny ...

I set DVD ... Actions ... Allow ... and I get the discounts on Category 3_10 based on demo products ...

Could you spell out what you have set?
