product pages not opening until all pictures loaded?

Hi,

When clicking on a link to any of our products there is a long delay before page opens. GoDaddy says this is because of the way our "code" is written, and the pages do not open until all images associated with the product are loaded. How would I change this to have the page open first, and then have images loaded?

This was not an issue until after upgrading to 1.3.9h from 1.3.8a in July.

It is loading "reasonably" fast for me (I am in the UK), but it should be a lot faster, given that your thumbnail additional images are all very small (file-size).

To be honest... the problem is the host - GoDaddy...

You are likely to be on a server shared by literally HUNDREDS (if not THOUSANDS) of other websites. And every site is competing for the server's processing power.

This is how GD operates... they sell "cheap" hosting by stuffing the servers to beyond breaking point. They save more money (for themselves) by minimal server configurations, clunky hardware (cheap stuff), and largely inexperienced and ignorant support people.

For a marginal few dollars a year more, you could be on a fast and efficient server, maintained by experts who know eCommerce.
