Adding Paypal Payment Option

I'm trying to add Paypal payment capability to my already functioning store. I've tried to add both the regular Paypal option Express Checkout without success. I have a business Paypal account I've used with success for some time.

With the regular Paypal option, the payment gets processed through Paypal with success AND I get a notification email, but the order never shows up in my store - a huge problem for products that are digital downloads.

With the express option, it gives the customer an error about not being able to access the server. My store is hosted on BlueHost and the curl is setup

My store version is woefully behind...1.3.9f. Any assistance is so very much appreciated ~ Cynthia

1. Yes, using PayPal Standard is likely to encounter problems, especially if the host is having troubles communicating with PayPal. That's why we always recommend EC over Std.

2. "gives the customer an error about xyz" ... without EXACT error messages, we can't help. We've no ability to magically guess what the exact error is. Help us help you by providing complete details.

3. Yes, you need to upgrade. It's very possible that your solution is contained in the many fixes that happened between your old version and the latest available version.
