For some reason credit cards don't show as a payment option like they did in 1.3.7

The "offline credit card" module was removed in v1.3.9 for PCI Compliance reasons. But that's not your only option.
There are many other credit card modules to choose from, depending on what gateway your bank offers for live credit card processing. Choose the one that works best for your bank. Naturally, talk to your bank directly if you need to know what they support..
