Merchant-Category Name length

Where is it found to set the length that a merchant or category/product name can be. I need to make it a wee bit more letters. I found where to let the site show it fully without truncating in the store listing but not where to actually let me add more letters to the name.

I think the field length is set in the database, so you would edit "varchar" in the applicable table.
