    Default XAMPP 404 error

    Tried installing the latest version of XAMPP (1.7.7) and get a 404 error when I enter http://Localhost/xampp

    I did install XAMPP as a service.

    What am I missing here?

    Removed and reloaded 1.7.4
    Getting the following messages though:

    Port 80 or 443 (SSL) already in use. Installing Apache 2.2 service failed

    Port 3306 Already in use. Installing mySQL service failed.

    XAMPP Component status check failure [3].

    Try signing out of skype or any other chat service first and then install XAMPP. That worked for me.

    I don't have skype. Guess I can try closing Facebook.

    Still no love.
    Uninstalled xampp
    closed all programs
    logged out of FB
    reinstalled and still get the following:

    Port 80 or 443 (SSL) already in use. Installing Apache 2.2 service failed

    Tried going to http://localhost/xampp and I get the following:
    Error Summary
    HTTP Error 404.0 - Not Found
    The resource you are looking for has been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable.

    I posted on their support forum.
    Seems that the blocked port issue is very common...but answers regarding how to unblock them aren't.

    For anyone else that is running into XAMPP issues, please feel free to post up and let me and everyone else know how you fixed the problem.

    FWIW:
    [Ports]
    Port80=BLOCKED
    Port443=FREE
    Port3306=BLOCKED
    Port21=FREE
    Port14147=FREE
    Port8080=FREE

    Hi again Serious. Could you try WAMP instead? You would need to completely remove XAMPP though before starting.

    Finally got it working by removing IIS via the Add/Delete feature of Windows.

    Also opened task manager and found 3-4 XAMPP related processes running and turned them off. This allowed me to complete remove the XAMPP directory.
    I started with a fresh download of the XAMP installer file and installed XAMPP without any issues at all. It's running properly now and no blocked ports either.
