Any chance we can get it working with PHP 5.2.6 or will this cause any problems with Zen Cart 1.5??

You need a hosting company that's capable of running contemporary software.
Running old versions of software leaves the server, and therefore your website, open to security vulnerabilities.
Find a hosting company which takes security seriously..
