Because you are deviating from the install instructions.. Please review the readme that is included with SNAF.. Follow the install instructions EXACTLY. Note the highlighted section below.. Follow these steps EXACTLY and you will have no issues..

    • In the 'Installation Files' folder make the following changes
-- rename the YOUR_ADMIN folder to match your installation
-- rename the includes/templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE folder to match your active template
-- rename the includes/modules/YOUR_TEMPLATE folder to match your active template
    • If you are using a language other than English you may want to create a version of the file YOUR_ADMIN/includes/languages/english/extra_definitions/snaf.php for your own language.
    • Upload the files in the Installation Files folder to your server. They are structured so that the upload should be simple.
    • The first time that you access an admin page the installation of the database changes will be actioned. You will receive a message at the top of the page saying that it has happened correctly.
One thing this does not say is that you need to log into your store's admin BEFORE you FTP the files to your site.. If you don't do this the last step in the instructions will not be obvious to you.. Why?? If you login after FTPing the files to your site, the install action will run during the login and the install confirmation message will not display -- this doesn't mean the install did not occur, it just means that you will not see the confirmation message that it happened.. Make sense???

In my site dir. I have 'zen_admin' and 'zencart' folders. Should the above mentioned folder be renamed 'Zen_admin" to match my installation?

-- rename the includes/templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE folder to match your active template
-- rename the includes/modules/YOUR_TEMPLATE folder to match your active template
I do not understand the reference to 'your active template'.

I have been working with WP for awhile and can find my way around, but ZC is completely new to me and I am trying to get a store up and running while at the same time learn my way around ZC.

    Thanks for your help.

    From the readme
    • Download the package and un-zip it to your computer.
    • In the 'Installation Files' folder make the following changes
The "Installation files" folder is inside the zip file you downloaded..

Rename the admin folders inside the install package to match your admin folder name. Rename the template folders to match the name your template's folder..

    DV,

One last question; The installation instructions call for uploading the files in the 'Installation Files Folder' to my server. Anyplace specific on my server?

    Thanks,

I uploaded the folders from the 'Installation Files' folder. At this time I see no changes. I did not get a message that any change had been made - in admin. When I did the upload I was in admin. Is there an SQL patch?
The option list in 'Product Listing' appears the same and my store has not changed. See - www.mimirbooks.com.
    Any suggestions?

No SQL patch the SQL needed.. From the readme file:
The first time that you access an admin page the installation of the database changes will be actioned.
This is why you need to be logged in after you upload the files.. Simply put, login to the admin, upload the files via FTP, click a link to see the install confirmation message..

This is why I posted earlier:

If you are not seeing the changes, then it likely means you have not loaded all the files or you do not have them uploaded in their proper places.. Suggest double checking your install or simply rolling back to you pre-install state and starting over.. (hopefully you did back up as it was strongly suggested in the instructions..)

I did do a backup through cpanel and downloaded it to my computer as a .tar file. So the question is how to utilize the .tar file to roll-back to pre install state?? Is there a way to use .tar and ZC to do this (automatically) or do I need to open .tar and FTP files/folders to file manager?

When I accomplish that, I will be back to square one - not knowing what to use for renaming of files/folders for install or where to FTP them to folders.

I enter File Manager (cpanel) on Host site and go to 'public_html' to upload files/folders for all sites I am using.

In public_html are two new ZC folders 'zcadmin' and 'zencart.

In zcadmin are .php files and 'backups' and 'images' folders.

In zencart are 'admin', 'images', and 'includes' folders.

This really is not to do with SNAF. It is common to any module that you choose to install.

You need to find out where the store is installed on your domain. And you need to understand the Zen Cart template/override system. There is plenty of information about both on the forum.

To install the module you need to change the naming of the folders in the module package. You do not change the names of the folders on the server. So to make the name changes in those files you need to know a couple of things.
    1. What the name of your admin folder is. This will be shown by the URL of where you log in to zen cart admin. If you log in at www.mydomain.com/controlroom the admin name is 'controlroom'. So, you just change the YOUR_ADMIN folder names in the package to 'controlroom'. ( In wordpress this is always wp_admin but in Zen it is different for every store because it makes it that bit more secure )
    2. You need to find the name of your active template. Log into zen cart admin and go to admin>>tools>>Template Selection and you will be able to see the name of your active template. You are actually looking for where it says 'template directory' .

Finally, you will want to use a decent ftp program to upload the files. Then you can upload them all (once you have renamed the folders) in one go. Filezilla is pretty good and free.

If the images came out, you can see that the mod has loaded. However, www.mimirbooks.com has not changed. I have changed the xxxx_listings combinations without the results I am looking for. Would having productslisted before the mod install have an affect on the results - if so, what can I do?
What other admin changes need to be made, if any? Any help here?
    Mike
