category longer than 16 characters �

Hi there, I've succesfully installed Greek language but I just noticed than if one categorie is longer than 16 characters a � symbol appears. It is not happening if I use English characters. All my language files are UTF8 encoded.
any clues?

I had the same issue with Greek characters. Apparently, each character takes two or more bytes in the database and the product name field is not long enough. Here is the solution I experimented with and it worked:

Go to your database, find the table products_description and click on it. When it opens on the right side, click the Structure button on top. The third field in the new screen is called products_name. Click on the pencil icon in the same line to edit it. Find the Length/Values field and change the value in the box from whatever it is to something around 100 or more, depending on the length of the product names you use. I have set mine to 130 but I would increase it in the future if necessary. Finally, click the Save button and you are ready.

If you have already names truncated with the funny symbol next to them, you will have to re-enter them.

I hope that it will work for you. After all, we are both talking Greek.

Apologies Satyros, that was the "difficult" way to do it. just discovered that you can also increase the number of characters from Configuration > Product Listing > Display Product Description.
