    Default Testing on local machine

    Hello, I'm new to Zen Cart--just installed the latest version for testing at home on a non-production test machine (Windows 7 with WAMP installed). I'm working on the settings for shipping, taxing, etc. I have a live, configured PayPal account as well. As you know, almost every action in Zen Cart (whether by admins or customers) sends an email. Almost everything in my testing is bombing, because emails are not working--for example, I change a setting and Zen Cart attempts to alert the administrator of the changes.

    I'm new to the PHP world (.NET guy by trade) and I need to know if its possible to disable all email while testing--or better yet, how to get email working on my home test machine. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Localhost zencart is not meant to be full production model re security.
    Easiest way is to turn off emails to admin etc.
    Mainly meant for testing templates. Otherwise, create a
    brand new test zencart on your paid webhost.

    You'd need a full-blown email server on your local machine to make those work. As misty said, it'd be better to just turn off the sending of emails in Admin - Configuration - Email Options - Send E-Mails

    Roger that...thanks for your replies. I guess I will just turn off the email while I'm testing. Under CONFIGURATION > EMAIL OPTIONS does changing the setting "Send E-Mails" to false turn off all email traffic?
