State showing only 2 letters? UK counties problem

Hi all,
I have just noticed, while trying a demo account, that when you fill out your address for billing or shipping address, it only shows two letters for the state.
But when i click the dropdown box, all states are in full and not shortened.
Does anyone know why this displays on my adresses as two letters because i would like it to display the full state address.
I am using fast and easy checkout, check out without account, if that helps.

The program shows the 2 letter code because that is the best practice for writing shipping addresses.

Hi Kim,
So for the UK for example, Hampshire (which is the country / state that the customer inputs) is then shown to the customer as HM.
Is this normal?
The reason i ask, is because my customers keep trying to make it Hampshire and then give up and abandon the cart.
Is there a work around for this?
