Display image in the home page

While trying to upgrade to v1.5, I'm also building a new look for our site. I found this template and am very interested in creating something similar to the way this site's home page looks...i.e. only clickable banners. very similar to what these guys have done...http://www.zenflavor.com/demo7/index...ain_page=index

I feel that there is a simple solution in the admin->configuration section where I can turn things off for the main page but can't seem to find it. Can anyone point me to the right direction?

I use one of their templates on my retail site (link in my sig below). I paid them the princely sum of $29 for it, mainly because there is not "a simple solution in the admin->configuration section where I can turn things off for the main page".

Detailed instructions come with their templates. And no, I'm not getting a commision.
