Shipping for separate items and international prices

Hi there, I hope you can understand this post properly because it might be kinda confusing, so I'll try to put it as simple as possible...

I wish to have shipping prices for separate items, so when I'm adding a new product I can add specify a certain shipping price for that one item, and a separate price for it if the person is in another country (outside of the UK).

Eh, I'm not making much sense so I'll put it like this: -

• How can I set shipping prices for separate items instead of 1 price for all?
• How can I set an international shipping price if they're outside of the UK?

Ah damnit, I really do not have the money for that... if I knew that Zen Cart didn't support this, I wouldn't have went with it in the first place Now I've set it all up for my mum and that's the only thing, damn.... agh, so frustrated at the moment... any alternatives? Please?

I don't know of any free mod that will allow you to specify shipping charges by product. Maybe if you went into more detail about exactly what kind of products you're selling and why you need to have separate shipping charges, we might be able to suggest a work-around.

Thank you for taking your time to help me, I really do appreciate it. This website is for my mum and she will be selling antique items, like china, jewellery, vintage clothing etc. She only has 1 of each item. The reason she needs different shipping prices is because some of the items are bigger than the other and to set one global price would lose her money on shipping. The reason she needs to set international shipping prices aswell is because it costs her a lot to send the items to other countries - like £10.

Here in the US, anyway, the shipping companies base their rates on weight and distance. If it's the same where you are, Zencart is perfectly capable of setting shipping charges based on weight, using the per unit or table rate modules. Assuming you can weigh the items, you could use one of those.

The international aspect could be set up using zones:

They do it here by weight aswell although my mum doesn't base the postage price of weight, she just puts a price which she thinks is fair. I've spoken to my mum and she's willing to do free uk postage but she'd like to set it up so she can choose a separate international price for each item... is there a way to do this? I honestly don't understand the zones/weight thing entirely well...

UPDATE: Okay basically, I've spoken to my mum and she's happy to have it like this:
- Free postage for UK residents
- People who are abroad cannot buy the items, they must enquire about it via the contact us page

How would I go about this?
