Default Copy ZC Installation for new site

I have an existing Zen Cart site that I like. I have all the configurations, customizations and everything exactly like I like it. Now, I need to create a new site and I want to use everything from the site I like except the database of course. I know I can do a backup from the site I like and restore it to the new site and I can create the new database, but I don't know what other files will need to be modified for the new site. Is there a list anywhere that anyone knows about?

    Thanks!

If I understand the question, the only files you would need to edit are the two configure.php files to point to the new domain. As far as the database, all the admin settings are saved in the DB, as well as EZ pages, so you'll have to redo all that.

It's generally quite straight-forward. Once you have copied the FILES and the DATABASE, you just need to load both onto your new location (it may be the same server, or even the same URL in a sub-folder), you just need to adjust all the PATH settings in the two configure.php files.

We routinely clone zencart sites, and it can all be done inside of 20 minutes.

Ok, I've copied all of the files and the database from one URL to another new URL. I'm starting a new store under the new URL that will have most of the products from the old store in it. I've modified both config files and the website comes up on the web without a problem. There are pages I need to modify because everything doesn't work right. But the big problem is that I can't access my admin panel. I have tried to log in with the login and password from the original site, but that doesn't work. I've tried to have it send me the password and that doesn't work. I've tried to log in using phpMyAdmin and changing the password to the encrypted version of admin (process described at http://kb.siteground.com/article/How..._Zen_Cart.html), but that doesn't work.

    Does anybody have any ideas?

    Thanks!

Does the admin login window appear?

Read this... it is similar to what you may have done, but is the "official" ZC method...

Well, that didn't work. I was able to execute the SQL commands without a problem, but what happens is that after I insert the Admin user name (Admin) and the password (admin), the screen clears these fields and does nothing else! I also tried having it email me the password again, but nothing. Using phpMyAdmin, I browsed the admin table and can see the entry created by the SQL commands, but nothing is working!

Check the email address in the database table - make sure it is the one you are expecting the reminder to be sent to.

You may ALSO be experiencing a CACHED SESSION issue (on your browser).

Open your browser, and using the TOOLS or SETTINGS menu, clear out the browser CACHE (stored cookies, remembered files, etc...).

Then CLOSE the browser, re-open, and try logging in again.

Have you tried logging in from a completely different computer?

There is also a possibility that when you MOVED files, some got corrupted. Have you checked your CACHE FOLDER (in the root of your ZC installation) for ERROR LOG FILES?
