    Default html website

    The facts:
    - I have a full website already built and running in html.
    - I'm going to sell just 2 products (services).
    - I don't know anything about php (nothing at all)

    My question:
Is there any way I can use the Zencart "inside" any html page from my website without using the zencart pages or templates?

    Thank you

Zencart isn't meant to be a backend cart script fo an existing HTML site - it's meant to be your whole site.

That said, check post #11 here:

Well, then I'm done. Zencart is not what I need. I would love to customize the whole template but I have no idea in how to work with PHP.

Thank you very much for your quick response.

PS. Any suggestion for something I can use?

Assuming you have a PayPal account why not just create a paypal link to the two products that you are selling?

Zencart, and indeed any other eCommerce system is going to be waaay more than you need.

    Cheers

I know nothing about PHP and manage to style Zencart just fine.

RodG is right - Zencart is a lot more than you need right now, but who knows what you might want to sell down the road, once the ecommerce bug bites ?

I am kind of like Sandriux, don't know anything about php.
I have used mals-e for my cart which is just html. I know html, but php is no different than French to me!
I am still debating if zencart is for me. Mals-e has been great, but my site is growing to where I will have well over 100 products. I have my domain through dot easy. I just upgraded to the plan that will support zencart. Mals-e is going to take a long time to set up for all the different products and it will change weekly as new things will be coming in.
I understand now, my site will be a zencart site and no more of my html.
I haven't even gotten past how, where to install zencart if I choose it. I've read about using Fantastico.....
Does Zencart sound like it will make adding new things to my site? Or do I need to stick to mals-e

Never used Mal's, but if you have a hundred products and growing, it sounds like you are ready for serious e-commerce.
Fantastico can work for fresh installs, but I understand it wants to put Zen Cart in a subfolder, which is not ideal - the store should be immediately accessible in the domain root.
The manual installer is almost as easy (there is information you must enter in any case), and you will start with some idea of what is happening. You will need to use your server hosting control panel to make a new database and user before installing Zen Cart (your host may be willing to do it for you). The steps are generally simple and covered by the Zen Cart documentation and tutorials.

If you get stuck and can't find answers in the tutorials or old forum threads, we are here to help.

Note that for most basic installation and operation, you don't need to do anything at all with PHP. Even for more advanced customization, you can often follow simple recipes to "move this block of code to here" and not need to understand the PHP in depth.

I think what has me afraid is never done anything like this with websites. I am used to creating my page, upload to the public html folder, done, site is live and working.
Its the not knowing where things go, etc. Doteasy is my host and I know so far what I found was using fantastico, but think I saw another tutorial on initial installing.
Right now, I am so confused on where/how to install. So been reading several things.
Thanks, I have a feeling I will begging for help in the near future.
