No phone number on customer account

I have searched this problem and found nothing. I have many customers ordering products without entering a phone number, or maybe it is going away somehow, but when I look at the account there is no phone number.

At first I thought it was because I was allowing checkout with paypal without an account but I turned that off and I still have customer accounts being created without a phone number.

I have this same problem but only when customers use paypal. When they use cc the phone number is always there.
The Minimum Values is set at 3

I had the minimum value set at 3, but in an effort to fix the problem I set it to 7. That is on the Phone number field.

Also, I just created another test account to see if the database somehow was not getting updated and it worked fine. I think the problem has to do with PayPal because the last customer that purchased something did not have birth date (which I have now turned off) or Salutation set in the customer file.

If you want PayPal to pass the customer's phone number to your store, you can turn that option on from within your PayPal account settings on the PayPal site.
Do keep in mind that PayPal discourages you from forcing that requirement, because many customers may not want to share that information with you, and if you force it the customer might abort their transaction.
So, if you don't have a solid reason for collecting the phone number from the customer, then don't.

Hi,
My problem is that they can just hit the spacebar and not actually enter numbers - how do I go about setting it up so there have to be 10 numerals in that field?
