Default Transferring store to Another Host

Hi, I'm new to Zen Cart. I need to transfer a Zen cart to another host for a client. I'm looking for, and have not found, step-by-step instructions for how to carry out such a transfer. I don't know the version of the old cart. I think it might be an older version. Do such step-by-step instructions, exist anywhere?

The old host is shutting down. They sent me a zip file. I thought I should upload all the files in the zip to the new host. But they said, "those are just work/temp files. They sent me a file with an extension of .dmp and said I needed to use that instead of the files in the zip. I don't know what this .dmp file is and whether it contains all the files necessary to make the site work on the new host.

Should I be able to restore a backup of the database make appropriate changes to the configuration files and have the site run?

I created a new Zen cart on GoDaddy already.

Please I need to know how to do this from the beginning.

    Thanks

If it isn't too late, consider a different hosting option from GoDaddy.

Why do you say to consider a different hosting option?

GoDaddy has a terrible reputation here and elsewhere as a host for ecommerce or other dynamic database-driven sites. Their sever configuration can be non-standard, causing problems with the operation of your site, and they tend to overfill their shared servers with accounts, causing severely slow page loads.

The client had already committed to GoDaddy before I got involved in the project. I don't know whether he could get out of it at this point.

HMM... I always thought this was a type of dump file. Something that is generated when there's an error. You might want to ask them for clarification of what the file contains. Basically, you will need both a copy of the database, (maybe that's what they're calling a .dmp file?), and a complete set of the store files.
