It will not go past the License Configuration. I am trying to help a friend and no matter what I can't update.
Getting an Internal Server Error

Server 500 error? Could be caused by the files you uploaded having the wrong permissions, say if your server is set up with suPHP for example.

Everything is 777 or 755

If you have suPHP then the server will require 644 for files. If you can SSH into your server using putty or whatever and chmod all your site files to 644. The folders at 755 should be ok.

umask is probably set incorrectly in /etc/bashrc. Easy enough fix for the server admin.

As with any 500 error, you need to talk to the server administrator so they can read the *actual* error message from the server's logs.
