I couldn't seem to find a solution in the other threads so here I go.
I sell several different type of products.
When I sell the books I've written I want to offer free shipping.
When I sell other author's titles I want to offer media rate and higher shipping.
When I combine mine and others I want media rate and higher shipping.
When I sell any other item combined with any book I want to use either USPS or UPS calculated rates. And of course I want the pick up at store option.
Right now testing this all the shipping options come up regardless of whether the items are free shipping or not and regardless whether they are my books, other's books or non book items.
ie:
I put in a dummy order for one of my books.
All the shipping options showed up.
Free shipping, walk in, all the ups's, all the usps's
I then added a non book item and all the options still show up.
The customer is always going to select free if it's displayed.
Is there any way to select shipping based on all the product types combined?
In other words if someone orders 1 or 100 of my books the shipping would be free. If the order contained only mixed books the free option would drop and only the media and higher options would appear and if the order contained a non book related item the shipping options would only contain a non media option and higher. And of course the walk in would always appear.
I have a crude form of this in my old OSCommerce site but it uses a flat rate and per item calculation because I could never get the USPS module to work properly. If does switch off the free rate when a non book item is added to the card though.
