I have established the following:

I believe it is cookie related as when I am logged out of facebook the icon/pic/link disappears
When I cleared my cache and cookies it disappeared. Then when I logged back in it was gone, but also I had to click Like again on the social sidebar which I am guessing created a cookie and the damn icon appeared again..

HELP! arrgh!! I like this utility but will have to remove it if I cant get this sorted!

Is this sidebox add-on compatible with 1.3.8?

Rather than spending time adding bells and whistles to v1.3.8, you need to upgrade to v1.3.9h or v1.5.0 so you don't get hacked. V1.3.8 is very old and hackers know lots of ways to destroy it or steal your customers' info and your money from it.

I just started using this module and have a coupe of problems, as my client on uses facebook, I modified the file in extra_definitions by ocmmenting out all other social media but facebook and changed the link for facebook to the desired Facebook page.

I have turned off the side box as the apearance does not ook professional with broken links on the social media sites not being used I am including a screen shot of how it appeared when I had the side box turned on.

I just installed this but it doesn't appear on my website. It seems to be installed correctly. It shows in my sidebox layout controller just fine. But when I turn it on I don't see is anywhere on the website. What could I possibly be doing wrong?

Why not download it and try it out, preferrably on a test site you pop-up somewhere (I think everyone should have a test site).

I'm going to shortly on 1.5.1...see how/if it works.

EDIT: Maybe not for 1.3.9h. Just downloaded it and here is what the readme says:

Can someone please double check who has this installed , I think face book changed the way it caches likes and for some reason the main LIKE button under G+ is dead , as in not counting or registering the likes anymore ....

It worked until yesterday...
