    Default Quantity box removal

    Hi,

    Is there a way to turn off the quantity box for all products in a shopping cart or do I have to open each product to do that?

    Also, what happens when a visitor puts a product in the cart and leaves before checkout? How long will that particular products remain in the cart and not be available for another buyer?

    Products are not reduced from stock until the completion of the Checkout ...

    Unfortunately quantity box is set for each item. If you don't want it to show you'll have to go back to each one and click the "no do not show quantity box" bubble. When you do that the default purchase quantity becomes one.

    Permanent Cart - Any products added to your online cart remain there until you remove them, or check them out.

    Those two statements seem to contradict each other.

    If I have only 1 item left (all products are unique!) and it's stuck somewhere in an abandoned shopping cart, it can no longer be in stock, right?

    The stock doesn't get reduced until the sale is made. Putting it in the cart isn't like licking the last donut and calling dibs - until you pay for it, anyone else can grab it. So if someone has it in their cart and leaves, it is still shown as available on the product page and someone else can buy it. When the first person comes back and pulls up their cart they will get a polite little message that says "sorry dude, snooze you lose, this item is gone." (or something to that effect.)


    EDIT: A good way to see how it all plays out is to create two dummy accounts and play around - have dummy 1 put the item in the cart, then have dummy two look at the product page, dummy 1 leave the site, etc.

    First to "COMPLETE" the checkout process gets the item.
    If others have it in their shopping cart and/or proceeding thru the checkout. It will be removed before they can complete the checkout.

    If you login and have items in your "permanent cart"
    These items are compared to what is still actually available in stock.
    Items that are no longer available will be removed.
