v150 Premature end of script 500 error when adding user/customer

Hello zennites,

When users fill out new user info and submit, a 500 ISE warning pops up instantly. The info IS correctly added to the DB and is usable - logging in with the new user credentials works fine. However, I really don't want users encountering 500 Internal Server Error page!

I'm receiving this session log error:

Premature end of script headers: php-stable, referer: https://cart.xxxxxxxx.xxx/index.php?main_page=create_account

I've confirmed permissions are correct, the php error log and the zen debug log show no errors; only the session log.

Yep, I've reviewed all logs as indicated in the pages you linked. I haven't made any code changes or installed any modules and it's a fresh install. I'll try the file compare.

Problem corrected – sort of.

Thanks to the hint in my server log about the Create Account failure, I was able to eventually narrow the problem down to the "Send Welcome Email" function in the create_account.php file. Disabling the function lets everything else function correctly.

This installation of Zencart was a 'one-click' install utilizing Media Temples account controls. There is obviously an error in the code that I haven't sourced yet. Silly me thought that the one-click installation would have error-free code.

Quite the opposite.
The Zen Cart developers have no control over the one-click install tools built by hosting companies. While they are convenient, they aren't always correct.
And should NEVER be used for upgrading a site. Just saying.

That said, your email problem might be simply that your server doesn't fully support the email method you've got your Zen Cart configured to use. Try a different Transport Protocol, such as SMTPAUTH.

Thanks Dr.B,

I may give that a try soon. However, all of the other emails do get sent correctly with no issues; it's just the generation of the Welcome Email after completing the New User sign-up info.

This was a clean install of the Zencart 1.5.0 and not an upgrade so I've dodged that bullet – and it looks to be the straight up Zencart with nothing unique added by the hosting company. It did have the Classic template included which I engaged and changed only the cosmetics. Since the email errors only seem to be for that one Welcome function, I'll take a closer look at the code and see what I can find.

But for now, the client is happy so I'm happy!
