Idea or Suggestion Cannot correct footer

    Hi all,

I've taken over a site from a previous developer and have made some initial adjustments. I'm having a hard time finding support in changing the footer of the website (I can't seem to figure out what the previous developer did to make the footer look the way it does)

    ie: TITLESCONTACT_INFOQUICKLINKSINFORMATIONCUSTOMER_SERVICE

    http://www.tunetics.ca/

Even I was able to get back to having a simple footer with content in it I would be more than greatful. I'm sure it's an easy fix I just can't seem to connect the dots.

    Thanks!

There's a define file missing or corrupted in your custom template. Switch temporarily to the Classic template to confirm that, then search for some part of that string (contact_info for example) in Admin - Tools - Developers Tool Kit and see what comes up.

You might also search the forums for the name of your template to see if anyone else has had a similar problem.

Nothing came up for the string searches I did.

I pulled up the classic template as you suggested and there's no footer content there either, but at least that jargon part disappears.

I'll try looking up the template now.

There was in fact a missing file, so I've corrected that part by finding the missing piece in a mod that I downloaded.

However, that "TITLESCONTACT_INFO" piece still appears. Any idea on how to locate the origin of that? The Developers kit did not turn up anything

I'm pretty sure this has something to do with the EZ Pages, because when I try to add EZ pages to the footer nothing shows up. Does anyone know how to correct this?

I'm also seeing BOX_INFORMATION_ABOUT_US, and the footer items are listed vertically in IE8.

If I were in your position, I would download that (free) template again and use a file search utility (I use Agent Ransack) to search the template files and find the two defines you're still missing. I'd guess you're still missing at least one file.

In general, when you see an UPPER CASE CONSTANT (eg: BOX_INFORMATION_ABOUT_US), it usually means a LANGUAGE file is either missing, or corrupted, or that it does not contain the define VARIABLE for that CONSTANT.

Steve is correct. You need to go back to the original template's folders and files, and see if the version on your server contains all the folders and files in the template's original download.

It is NOT a good idea to "mass-overwrite" everything, because SOME of these files (on your server) may have had later customisations done to them... so work carefully and logically.

My guess is that it is a LANGUAGE FILE that is missing/corrupted - and most likely one that lives in your custom template's LANGUAGES/EXTRA_DEFINITIONS folder. That's the first place to start.
Did my post help you fix something? You can show your gratitude by buying the the dev team coffee.
