Idea or Suggestion Streaming video product

    Hey guys,

Given that streaming video is going through the roof at the moment (YouTube, etc..) I'm hoping that someone has already come up with some cool ideas for this..

I want to use streaming videos as products in a zencart store. That it, instead of using zencart to offer the video as a downloadable virtual product, actually use zencart to stream the video from a page that the use can only get to if they've purchased the video. Has anyone thought about doing this? Or better yet come up with a clever solution/mod?

    Cheers,

    Patrick

Would love to know more as well!

Have been playing with a redirect to a .html page in the download directory. Have been able to get it to redirect to the html page but it won't play the FLV/SWF file player on the page. It should play just like it does if I direct path it to the page. Any Ideas?

link problem Re: Streaming video product

No sooner than I post my desire to find a way to add Video on Demand (streaming video) to my clients shopping cart and what I had been playing with to get it to work, did I figure it out! WooHoo!

Basically what I did was create a HTML page in the download directory with the SWF and FLV file in the that same directory for the HTML file. I also created the player frame using a program called Wimpy Wasp ($49) you can download from the Internet. Used their customization tool to determine my path, player size and more! Once loaded - presto it worked.

I was also able to set the number of views and how many days the page can be viewed without any file downloads to the end user, all through the Attributes Controller. Really cool!

Give it a try and let me know how you make out! :)

help question Re: Streaming video product

I set up video downloads for a client - no problem.
Now he wants to sell PPV streaming videos.

How did you make the connection between the html/flash video file and the product listing/purchase?

I created an HTML page that has a swish/flash file embeded.
I uploaded the html file and swf file.

I added the html as an attribute, I get to the html page when I purchase the product BUT the swf file does not play.

    Anny ideas?

help question Re: Streaming video product

Any ideas on how to get an embedded file to play from a "download" link.

Download file = .html page with embedded wmv player & file.

The embedded file will only play if it is NOT in the download (protrected) directory.

Is there a way to get an embedded file to play from an html page that's downloaded?

    Roland,

I have been tasked with doing the same thing. Seminar-style video has been produced, and they want to offer it for a price. But its not to be downloaded to the user's machine, only streamed.

Were you ever able to come up with a solid solution?

Thanks for any information you may provide.

    Cheers!

    - Sean
