    Default Footer Bar Controls?

My website is www.mimirbooks.com and I have a bar in the bottom of the center section that says, "Why BS Online books". I would like to edit it and find out about it.

Can someone point me in the direction to where I might find info on this bar? I am using ZC v139h.

    Thanks,
    Mike

Your Template Monster template has added something called 'bot-banners'. Use the Admin - Tools - Developers Tool Kit to find the files where that appears.

While you're about fixing the TM issue (they are rife with "issues" so be prepared to be in tears quite often)... consider getting rid of that "Who's Online" notice at the top.

Firstly, nobody - except you perhaps - gives a hoot about who is online at your site. How does it help your sales? It doesn't - so why have it?

Secondly, if the who's online gives a LOW figure, it tells me that NOBODY likes your site - except one or two lost souls like me.

It's like "restaurant theory"... do you know "restaurant theory"?

Next time you're on vacation, walking round the town looking for a nice place to eat, my bet is that you will want to eat in one of the BUSY restaurants, and will avoid places where there are only a handful of diners.

Its the same on your website... Telling people how many visitors are on your site can convey a message that you don't really want them to know.

Stevesh, I searched and found two files the bot-banner is listed. Though have no idea what the banner is or how it works or what it does, came with the TM theme. I have a text in to TM about the banner, so far no answer.

Devyani, I think I can find the code if that's what you are interested in?

Schoolboy, I agree with you and turned off the Who's Online. However, I now have an empty space in the header with no idea what to place there.

Thanks for all the suggestions, I am new to ZC and have no idea as to how to make it work for me.

    Hi Mike

If you are new to zencart, then TemplateMonster templates will be the bane of your life.

While they may "look nice", they are FULL of major differences to core zencart templates - so behaviour that you expect to be able to control using standard zencart protocols, is very often just not there...

So you will spend DAYS (weeks, perhaps) of time bouncing around this forum desperately looking for answers which few people are able to give - because the vast majority of experienced helpers on the forum do NOT go near TM Templates - we HATE the damned things!

More problems start to arise when you want to add modules and plugins... You will either find that a plugin does not function when added, or breaks a whole lot of other things... and getting many add-ons to be compatible with TM templates can be several hours of work - even for an experienced zenner.

TM templates require their users to have a high degree of competency in zencart, php, css and mysql. If you plan to ADD NOTHING and TAKE NOTHING AWAY from your site in its lifetime, then live with the restraints of a TM template. I know of nobody that does not want to introduce improvements to their site.

You would be better off using one of the many free templates to start with, then designing your own around one that you like.
