    Default Fail To Receive Order

    Hi,

I have problem with receiving orders. I have version 1.3.8a installed. For most of the time I receive orders, but sometimes I don't get order information. I get an e-mail from Paypal that states customer purchased an item and I get the money, but I don't get order information such as items number and delivery address. Again it is not happenning with all orders. Right now I have order to place in, but I don't know what product customer purchased. Befor I fix this problem, is there any way to find out customer order instead I contact with customer? I checked order section there is not order information.

Please help to fix these two problems. Thanks

I assume you're using Paypal Standard (IPN). That's a known problem with that module, due to the way IPN works. Use the much more stable Paypal Express instead.

There's no way I know of to retrieve the order details now without contacting the customer.

Thanks for help. I installed and it work perfect. Now I need to ask if there is way to disable Paypal Express button and all customers sign up before purchase. And I also want to ask if customer chooses Paypal Express in that case, do I get all purchased items infromation from PayPal? Such as product number and shipping address.

    Thanks for help

You know..................you MIGHT look in your database to find out what your customer ordered. I don't know if it recorded your transaction or not, since you never got the order, but it's worth a shot, right? Look at the table "customers"..........see if you can find any matching information (you DID get name, address, and such through PayPal, right?) for that particular customer. Remember what their Customer ID is.......that's ONLY for Zen-Cart. Then, look at the table "orders"...............do you see any orders with the matching Customers' ID? If so, there will be an "order ID" number there, as well. Once you find the "Order ID" number, then you can look at the table "orders_products" for the matching "Order ID"...............that will tell you every product that this particular customer ordered.....................................IF....................yea.........IF .................your database recorded it. Like I say...............it's worth a shot to find out, and saves the embarrassment of calling the customer up and saying, "Uh........I'd like to fill your order, but I don't know what it was that you ordered!"..............right?

    Hope this helps,
    Robert

Robert Thank you for help I looked for it and it haven't been recorded. I have the customer's record just because she signed up before purchase but order information I didn't receive. I already installed Paypal Express, the only problem I have I need to disable paypal express button and make customers sign up before purchase. My question is: If customer choosed to sign up instead paypal express, will I still have problem receiving order information? Can they process with sign up and use old way process with Paypal Express?

If you use PayPal Express Checkout, and in your ZC Admin EC settings set the EC Shortcut Button to off, then your customers will encounter the same experience as your old broken IPN method, but it will be more reliable.

But you must use v1.3.9h to do that. You shouldn't be using v1.3.8a anyway, as it has security problems.

So, as others have said, upgrade and use Express Checkout.
