Zone Rate Shipping shows and calculates higher that product being shipped, Funky Prob

I have v1.5.0 and all else is working pretty well, however the calculated Zone Shipping Rate is higher than the actual product being shipped. The Zone Rate settings are good and display properly, but somewhere the weight is jumbled(techie term, lol).

Example, product weighs and is displayed at "Total Items: 1 Weight: 2lbs Amount: $53.99", and the Zone Rates shows "(Shipping to CA (1 x 5.00lb(s)))" and displays the shipping cost for 5lbs.

Any ideas or am I just being dense?

This is a common question...

You need to adjust the TARE settings in ADMIN >>> CONFIGURATION >>> SHIPPING/PACKAGING

Package Tare Small to Medium - added percentage:weight 0:3
Larger packages - added packaging percentage:weight 10:0

The 0:3 is your issue

These TARE settings are quite important - but many people just set them both to 0:0

They are there to ADD some weight to an order, because PACKAGING has weight too, and your shipper charges for the COMPLETE weight - not just the contents.

Getting these settings correct can help the website to calculate a more accurate GROSS weight of the parcels you send out.

Yea, I figured it was something simple(ish). The more I play with ZenCart, the more I realize the wicked power of the program! Thank a bunch!
