Default shipping

Client is using several different shipping methods with different shippers (UPS, USPS). He wants the UPS ground shipping to be the default choice. There is not option to make it default. Has anyone had to do this before and how did you set it up?

Maybe through assigning a sort order to the methods??

Tried that. It had no effect on it.

What do you mean "No effect"??
Does it alter the order of methods presented?

No, didn't change them at all. But what I'm looking mainly is for UPS ground to automatically be the radio button that is used at the default shipping method.

I don't have your main solution - I'm having the same problem, but one thing I noticed was if I left the sort order for what I wanted as top of the list as '0' and increased the numbers of ones I wanted lower down the list nothing happened, but if I changed the '0' to '1' then it changed correctly.

However I'm sure I read somewhere that the 'selected' button should be the cheapest option, not the first in the list? But like you I have 2 options (different prices) and NIETHER are selected. If my Free Shipping option is activated (by spending enough) that one DOES get pre-selected!

Yea...my client wants UPS ground to be the default selected but it is not the cheapest option. I'm looking at the code and can't for the life of me figure out how to setup a default method.
