CKEditor not working/Product description not showing in the Admin area

There's probably a very obvious explanation I'm missing but those can be hard to find.

Right now, the production description only gives the option to edit in text mode. It's probably related to some product description not showing, since many of them have been added using HTML Area and that editor is no longer available in v.1.5. (they show on the Catalog side, thankfully). I tried to add CKEditor, and it looks like it worked partially since I can chose the option when I go to Admin->Configuration->My Store->HTML Editor but it still doesn't show in the product edit page.

There was one instruction I'm not sure I understood from the FAQ:

"When you login to your admin area, select CKEditor from the list of editors on applicable pages."

Do they mean like the product description page, or is it something else?

At the top right of the first page in Admin - Catalog - Categories/Products, there's an editor option dropdown. What's set there ?

Wait. Now it's working. I still have no description displaying though.

Thanks! Everything seems to be working now. Just to make sure: if my site uses french, it's utf8, right?

For NEW stores which contain NO historical data, if your site will use non-english symbols, then utf8 is the better choice.

But if you're talking about an upgrade from an older version, no. Use whatever charset/collation the original version used. Changing it without significant testing will result in many problems, including the symptoms you posted about here.

I'm also having the same problem, when I try and use the "define pages editor" all of my pages show up blank. I have followed all the steps listed in thuis thread, but it still doesn't show up. The website shows the text fine, but I cannot edit through the admin pannel.

I don't suppose anyone has experienced a blank grey page when trying to edit a page?

Clicking on Source shows the page editable and white but as it says, it is the source code as opposed to a WYSISWYG editor.
