    Default Weird problem updating

After updating from 1.3.8 to 1.5 and installing the appropriate language pack (Spanish in this case), all the international symbols (such as á, é, í, etc) appear in the store or the admin console fields as . After checking the database tables, I saw that all international characters are correct.

Later I proceeded to change some of the symbols, for example "Artculos de Temporada" for "Artículos de temporada". However, after making the change, the database entry appears as "ArtÃculos de temporada". Database collation is utf8_unicode_ci

Anyone has had a similar issue and knows of an easy fix to this?

I just installed a new template and copied the all the english.php files included in the template, renamed them to spanish.php and now the entries that appeared wrong are correct. However text that was translated by the spanish language pack has gibberish instead of the special characters

you installed the 1.5 spanish language pack after changing to 1.5?

Only the login page is available on your site which looks ok. So the text in your files is getting served to the browser with the correct encoding. The provinces in the drop down are corrupted, and these come from the db to the problem is there.

Was your db utf-8 before the upgrade?
