WHATS NEW CATAGORY HELP .. hiding certain products

Hello zenners, I am completely new to to zen cart and have been loving this and it has been very easy for me.. However, I came across my first issue... I have uploaded certain products and they automatically show up on the home page "whats new" section. I need to hide 6 items and I do not wish for them to show up there.

What are the steps to hide these 6 products from the whats new section on the home page, I have tried the hosting part of html and the zen cart admin, I am completly lost on this one and haven't found out exactly where I need to go.

I am looking for something that can remove 'out of stock' products from the 'featured' and 'new products' sets.

I still want to display them within my store, as I have CEON's back in stock notification enabled, but I don't want products that can't be purchased listed as a new/featured products due to a display issue (dupe buttons) with OOS Notifications Mod and my template (http://www.zen-cart.com/showthread.p...80#post1119780).

Is there SQL code that I can schedule nightly or hourly that would prohibit OOS items from being displayed?

Featured Items I think is fairly straightforward in regards to checking stock level and setting 'featured = 0' if Stock < 2, but 'new products' isn't that simple.
