Products page not repopulating the fields on an edit request

Surprise, First time user .. on first cart.
Running 1.39h - Current Server wont support the upgrade yet. (So Just taking this on a test run first)

2 Zen Cart Installations - 1- Standard install and one standard with the Newport Eco template add on

Same problem both installs.
I set-up categories, and add products. All is good, I can see them in the admin, they show up in the cart, I can process them all the way through.
I see them in the database

When I pull up the product in the admin panel -> Catalog / Categories / Products - Economy Stamps I see the products name and info there.. I click "Edit" or the product and it takes me to the edit page, some of the fields (Qty, Price, weight) are repopulated with data,
BUT the Products Name:, Products Description:, Products Model: are not repopulated with the correct data. If I just change the weight (or anything) and preview/update then all unpopulated fields are saved and displayed as no data..

Which mean that for a simple change I would need to reenter most of the product data..

I am guessing its a simple brain fart.. but not sure.. I am getting this ready to up load about 13000 products so I need to resolve this before I get to that point..

any help would be greatly appreciated.

I wouldn't upload 13K products to a test site on a server that won't support the current version of Zencart, anyway. World's full of hosts who keep their servers current.

Oh yeah .. I do not plan on uploading that many in this.. I was just using it as familiarization and a learning tool..
