    help question Send to Kindle?

I hope this is in the right spot...

I have been searching all over for a way to send an eBook directly to Kindle based on the customers choice of format (.mobi). I found a work-around for sending an email with an attachment, but couldn't get that to work and was kind of disappointed with that option.

Does anyone know of a way to do this whether it's automatically sent or the customer can click a button and have it sent to their Kindle?

I've looked for other threads like this, but couldn't find any.

Any suggestions, points in the right directions, or help would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks :)

    There are two separate possibilities:

    a) "click to download, and optionally select to open in Kindle app"
Simply deliver the .mobi file as a regular download (via a common browser) to a Kindle-capable device, and have that file open in the Kindle reader.
You will probably need to add mobi as an allowed filetype to your /pub/.htaccess file.

    b) To "deliver wirelessly via the Amazon Kindle network".
This is a far more advanced approach which will require you to research the "how" with Amazon and associates, implement it technically, and pay the corresponding fees for having them broker the delivery of the product to the end user.

    Thanks for the response.

I've already added .mobi to the htaccess file. It's just sending it to the Kindle-capable device that I am having problems with. Should I just put instructions stating that if they want the book on their Kindle-capable device to open this link in their device? What if they don't have internet capabilities (I'm thinking older style Kindles...).

As for B, we already sell on Amazon, so the reader can buy the book from there, however depending on the price, Amazon will take either 30% or 65%. I would prefer to do it all myself. Since you can deliver your book to your Kindle via emailed attachment, this might be the easiest approach, yet I can't for the life of me get any of the instructions on sending an email with an attachment, to work. I have a fair bit of knowledge of PHP coding and extensive HTML coding, but I think I am missing something...

Amazon's documentation on the topic: http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/custom...deId=200767340

It points out that "the sender's email address must already be on the list of addresses the recipient has approved to receive files from". That could pose a problem for you if you were intending to email immediately. Something to keep in mind if you're considering the email option.
