Taken over new site- advice on upgrading please!

Hi all,

Let me know if this is in the wrong area.

I really need some help & advice here please. I have very limited knowledge in this department and I think I have a mammoth job in front of me

I have recently taken over this website which is currently being used as a showcase.

We are using 1.3.8a. We currently have over 1000 products with many more to come. As far as I know customisation has been minimal.

What I would like to do is update it to the current version. After that I would like to get the shopping cart up and running to turn it into a fully functional website.

Can anyone point me in the right direction? I am not really sure where to start?

After you upgrade, you can add cart functionality in Admin - Configuration - My Store - Store Status

Hi Stevesh,

thanks for replying. I have followed all the steps outlined in your link but am having issues...

- I have created a new database and had my host restore the old database into it.

- I have made note of all the changed files but at this stage I do not want to copy the changes across to the new version.

- I have edited the the 2 configure.php files with the new database paths etc and I am now getting the "Upgrade Database Now" option when prompted.

I got a quite a few errors as shown here:

From what I have been able to find these are OK to ignore?

When I click "Done with upgrade" it says "Congratulations! You have successfully installed Zen Cart® on your system" but when I click the option to "go to store" it just takes me to

Has it actually installed correctly but I have a path wrong somewhere?

do I need to change the Table-Prefix?

do I need to change the admin username and password (I have left the same as original)

If I try to log in to http://www.talair.com.au/store_new/admin/ google cannot retrieve the page.

Any ideas? Anyone?
