Per Unit Shipping handling fee applied to downloads

Hi all,

I'm stumped. I have a store setup to sell art prints. This entailed having multiple sizes for each product and being able to charge appropriate shipping costs to cover the difference in mailing an item in a flat envelope vs mailing a larger item in a tube as well as shipping multiple products of different sizes in the appropriate packaging.

The best way I could find to address all of the issues involved with an order that has multiple products was to use the Per Unit shipping module and set a base handling fee and then add an appropriate amount of shipping per item via attributes. This has worked out very well. However, now I want to add downloadable products (short fiction in e-format). I've added a test product and two attributes to handle each of the e-formats but Zen Cart is displaying a Shipping Information screen with the Per Unit 'Best Way' shipping showing with the base handling fee of $5.00.

My question is how can I have downloads that won't have the handling fee added? Or is there a way to have specific products use only Free Shipping and other products use Per Unit shipping?

Well I feel rather stupid. I had entered a real product with the download files but when I decided to use a test product I failed to add the download files to the attributes. Please ignore my question above. :)

Thanks for the update of what was causing the issue ... you's be surprised how often that happens ...
