Default New installation and I'm stuck

    Hello

I am doing a manual install of zen cart to a 1&1 windows server, taking my time so I do it right.

I'm following the instructions and have so far got up to here:

Next, on the server locate the file: /catalog/admin/includes/dist-configure.php
Rename this file to configure.php and change the permissions to 777 (read-write-execute for all)

But I'm stuck on the other bit: /catalog/includes/dist-configure.php
Rename this file to configure.php and change the permissions to 777 (read-write-execute for all)

The reason I'm stuck is because I can't find a folder named 'catalog', I checked the download and there isn't one in there either although I'm sure (hoping) there is a simple explanation for this.

Thank you in advance, I'm confident with ftp, but this is my first ever zen cart installation and rather nervous although I have done a site backup prior to starting.

Those instructions can be confusing. The /catalog directory refers to the root directory of your site. If you installed Zencart to the root of your site, the files you're looking for will be in admin/includes and /includes. If you installed Zencart in, say, /store, it would be in store/admin/includes, etc.

Right, I see now, there's no actual 'catalog' file (which was confusing me).

Thank you very much. I'll move on to the next bit now and see how I get on.

Just wanted to say thank you for your help Stevesh, I have now managed to install the cart successfully (after a bit of a scary moment with the database section). It's up and running now and I'm feeling very proud of myself :)
