Creating a new category for all "Sale items"

I have about 10 categories, 5 of which include 4 subcategories. I'd like to add a new category called "sale items" for certain categories and subcategories that we put on sale. I'd like to give my shoppers one go to place to find all the sale items in my shop.

Can you tell me how would you go about doing this? The only way as far as I can see is to link each product in the category one by one to the "sale items" category. This seems a bit cumbersome but luckily I don't have too many products in each category. Just wondering if there is another way to go about this? Ideally, I'd like to make salemaker it's own category, but I don't know how it's possible.

I would like to also create a specials/ sale category.
