Default Can't get past the GPL licensing agreement screen

This is a new install of v1.5 on a linux server with GoDaddy.

When I try to run the zc installer I get hung up at the GPL licensing agreement screen.

I followed all of the steps for a basic install. Any ideas?

Wow. How totally enlightening. Did you get all of those posts by making such helpful remarks?

If you don't have anything helpful to add then just shut it Forest.

Fellow Michigander - snotty insults don't accomplish anything here. The experienced Zenners here don't flame newbies like yourself for asking silly questions or questions easily answered by reading the FAQ, and we expect courtesy in return. If kobra's reply wasn't what you were looking for (it was good advice, though), it would have made more sense to ignore his post and wait for someone else.

In the case of your question, what does 'hung up' mean ? What happens exactly when you click the button to continue ?

And, some of the attitude could have been that you were warned about GoneDuddy in January of 2011 when they arbitrarily changed e-mail settings in all their servers. Wouldn't that have made you suspicious when "all of a sudden" 1.5.0 would not load?
Or, it could be that you failed to answer any of the posting tip questions. Knowing some of the answers might have given us a clue as to what was going on.
Seriously, just giving the impression that you have exhausted all avenues known to you with no results, will get WAY more help than "I get hung up".
Lastly, GoneDuddy has had major DOS attacks recently and your server may still be affected. Thus, with little or nothing to go on, you were directed to the forum and it's wealth of information on the follies of doing business with GoneDuddy.
With one MAJOR exception (Zen Cart), you get what you pay for.
I going to assume (yes, I know) that some feature that ZC requires is not listed in green (if you are not "hung up" before that).
Knowledge is power. Give us some knowledge of what is going on and we will be better powered to help.

My apologies to you all. Kobra just hit a nerve with what I thought was just a null answer.

I have had v1.3.8 running just fine for about 3 years now when all of a sudden it stopped working this week.

I tried to log in to the admin screen and got this "Deprecated: Function ereg() is deprecated in /home/...etc..."

I had been planning on upgrading later this year but now that I have this problem, now seems like the right time. Upgrading seems like a small nightmare so I figured I would just start over.

I loaded v1.5 in a new directory and ran the installer but I get to the GPL licensing agreement screen and the installer stops there. No matter which choice I make it just reloads that screen.

I don't see how it makes a difference who is hosting this site especially when it has been working fine until this week.

Hopefully I have given better info for you all to work with.

Thank you and I hope someone has an idea that will get me working again either with my old setup or getting the new one started.

    Humbly,

    'R Candys

    R Candys,
Apologies that so many have quickly pounced on your choice of hosting company. GoDaddy has had a bad reputation of making messes of shared hosting services on sites that are database-driven (CMS, ecommerce, etc) over the years. Apart from a recent router reprogramming mistake, they've been making some surprisingly great improvements to their services lately.

I'm starting to see a very positive change in their technical infrastructure of late, so my own (formerly very negative) opinion of them is quickly turning around for the better.
So, I'll throw my hat into the ring and say I respectfully disagree with the negative views expressed above. Time will tell for sure, and each person's own experience may be different, but right now things do appear to be on an upswing.

Thank you DrByte for letting me know that GoDaddy may be improving themselves. Maybe I won't have to change hosts after all.

In the mean time, is there anything you can tell me about the trouble I am having?

As for your install problem, can you double-check and see whether you've marked the /cache/ folder as writable? If it's not writable then it may have troubles storing temporary information.
