Filtering Help!!!

Hello,

Here is my question right now my customers can only filter products by manufacturer, product id number(which they will not know) these are in drop downs. They can also search by price or name a-z or z-a if they know to click on the title in the product list heading. Is there a better way to filter al of this I'd like to have other options say best seller or color or newest and so on and have these options in a drop down menu. How do I do this!!!

Also I have the product filter by mod which I uploaded fine not sure what it does though. So maybe Im missing something there. Please let me know if there is a way to do what Im looking for though this mod or some other way it's driving me crazy and Im losing customers over it!!
