Default Is there an easier way to do downloadable products?

I read this and it's pretty nuts for an 11 uear old programmer, yet for my customer to actually be able to do this is super nuts lol. http://www.zen-cart.com/content.php?113

There has to be an easier way to add a product and just upload the file that would be downloaded if it's paid for.

    I'm I missing something?

This will have 100's of downloadable products. Are you supposed to do this for every product?

To add a Download Attribute to a product

Go to Option Names ... and create an Option Name that is either Radiobutton or Dropdown ...
    Call it something like: Download
Go to Option Values Manager and add what you want to call it ...
    example: Zip File
If you have multiple choices you could have these as the Option Names you create:
    - MS Word Zip
    - Note Pad Zip
    - etc.
Go to Attributes Controller and find the Product ...
    Add the Attribute as:
    Option Name: Download
    Option Value: MS Word Zip
    Sort Order: 10
Filename: (enter name of file you uploaded to the /download folder)
    Option Name: Download
    Option Value: Note Pad Zip
    Sort Order: 20
Filename: (enter name of file you uploaded to the /download folder)

And is there a way to have an upload or path option in the new product section when adding a new product?

    Thanks!

Afraid that this is the only way...
One could write code for some other method as long as the code performed all the required functions

You only need to make the Option Name with the Option Values once ...

After that, you just go to the Attributes Controller and add the Downloads to your Attributes then upload your Download files via FTP ...

And you could probably copy the attribute to all the products that need one like it, then edit them each in Attributes Controller to have their own particular file. Quicker than adding each attribute by hand.

On the Attributes Controller, when you are adding the Attributes to the Product you enter the Download filename ... then you can upload the files via FTP to your server ...

NOTE: FTP the downloads to the server first will allow you to see these Attributes with a green dot next to the filename to ensure you have a good spelling on the files and that they are setup correctly ...
