ADMIN/images/large
I do not see a CLASSIC folder so therefor I cannot add a CUSTOM folder in this directory. In the event of an update will the images I have added be removed ? If so, how is this problem addressed ?

There is no ADMIN/images/large, in a standard installation. Maybe you mean something else?
Zen cart installation / maintenance / customisation / hosting
Supported Modules: Dutch language pack, Multi site, Dynamic Price Updater and more.
/MY_ZEN_CART_FILENAME/images/large
There is. "ADMIN" was a generic name I choose to refer to the root directory.
/MY_ZEN_CART_FILENAME/images/large
/MY_ZEN_CART_FILENAME/images/icons
/MY_ZEN_CART_FILENAME/images/banners
etc
Why would you overwrite your image folder? there are almost never changes to the folder in an upgrade, and zen Cart updates should be done manually, so you choose what files to overwrite, replace, merge, add, or delete

Why ? I have bought into to the concept that things that you do not want to be lost in an update should be in some CUSTOM folder. I was not aware that these images are not. ( Or "almost never".)there are almost never changes to the folder in an upgrade, and zen Cart updates should be done manually, so you choose what files to overwrite, replace, merge, add, or delete
Thank you for your reply.
I think there may be some confusion here. If you drag an empty /images/ folder over an /images/ folder full of images, nothing will happen -- if you're doing it via FTP, I should say. That's because folders themselves are only written during an FTP upload if the folder doesn't exist. Otherwise the content of the uploaded folder will be added to the content of the existing folder, and only files within that folder that happen to have the identical name will get overwritten.
So when you're doing an upgrade, just make sure you empty the new version's images folder.

"Admin" is a term always used for the Zen Cart administration panel or folder, so that's why we were confused about what you meant.
Images in the /images/ folder will not be touched during an upgrade, unless they have the same filenames and locations as one of the default/demo images. There is no reason you would customize those; any images used in your template (like a logo) should be saved under /includes/templates/your_custom_template/images/, wheere they will not be subject to overwriting in an upgrade.
