    Default SSL Certificate

Does the store look and feel different on a box where the SSL certificate is added after ZC is set up vs. installing a store on a box that already has an SSL certificate? Are there short comings?

The hosting company set up the SSL security after the store was installed and running for over two years, and it just doesn't feel right. The https seems to come and go. I can't tell what is cache and what is real. I know I can clear my cache but still don't feel good about it.

I am about to install a fresh store on the box just to see if there is a difference but thought I could get some ideas first.

Well... the certificate applies to the domain - not the server.

    1. SSL (when invoked) will be slower, because the data is encrypted, and this process uses more resources.
    2. In Zencart, SSL will only be invoked WHEN NECESSARY - ie: when "sensitive data" is being transmitted. It is NOT "on" all the time - unless you "force" it to be on by indicating that the http server is also https URL (in the configure.php files).

    Hi Forum5

Each and every ZC store should be running with SSL instsalled. ZenCart is very clever and will only switch to SSL mode at critical points in time when data should be kept secure (account creation, login, checkout, admin)

Would you buy from a store, enter your personal details (name/address/password/debit-credit card details) on a non secure page!

    Go with the SSL.
