Default How do I do 1 product, 5 sizes, 2 varations?

Setting up Zencart for simple pricing seems unnecessarily difficult. Here is the pricing table...

    Product: Obama Bobblehead

    Size Plastic Wood
    Small $5 $10
    Medium $19 $32
    Large $30 $47
    XL $45 $110
    XXL $68 $140

What is the best way to set this up? I have struggled for 2 days... seems I should have asked sooner.

hi, thanks for the quick reply.

it's a table or a product with 2 types and 5 sizes each....

    Bobble Head A
    Size | Plastic | Wood
    Small | $5 | $10
    Medium | $19 | $32
    Large | $30 | $47
    XL | $45 | $110
    XXL | $68 | $140

i would really like the user to be able to select plastic or wood and simply the size...

here is a similar situation with no real answer...

    http://www.zen-cart.com/showthread.p...-Pricing/page2

i can either take the prices from a grid or table or skew my prices a bit and have the second column simply be double the price of the first... or even discount the first column 50 percent of the first.

my struggle is there is three ways to go about implementing the pricing and I can't find one way for zencart unless i pay $200 to some folks in india.

i don't want dynamic drop downs... much less across my site so i don't want to use that.

i'll use what works and mostly converts a sale... PICK A or B and PICK A SIZE, S-XL.... easy.

i've tried as discounting a base price, attribute only pricing with no base price... i'm just a bit confused and this is really simple. suggestions are greatly appreciated.

With what you have posted - You are wanting "dependent" attributes
Where depending upon the first selection "wood or stone" that the prices for sizes adjusts

Unfortunately ZenCart does not have the facility for them

You are left with either one product for wood and another for stone
    Or
    One with 10 selections
    Small wood
    Med wood....
    ....
    ....
    XL stone
    XXL stone

so many people have pulled this off or a variation of.... t-shirt people...

what is closest or resasonalbe option to do this?

it's like ordering a nice new Corvette and you've signed the paperwork... and all that is available is a Chevy Spark motor.

is there a purchasable plugin for this? can i buy the code from a tshirt person?

As Kobra says, attribute dependancy is not possible with core zencart. I have seen people achieve it - but this has required major restructuring of the way attributes are handled.

Unfortunately, the main governing factor is that every zencart store owner's needs for attribute configuration are unique - so a "one-size-fits-all" solution is just not possible.

I would suggest you keep things really simple...

    You have products made of:

    stone
    wood
    plastic

... so separate them into these categories.

Then it's just a case of adding an attribute for size, and then pricing by attribute.

let the initial selection be by product type - as defined in CATEGORIES... (stone, plastic, and wood).

Later, when you are selling millions of Obama bobble-heads, you will be able to hire India's finest to write you an attributes system.

    okay i have an idea...

i would like to put tabs above my attribute box....

    PLASTIC | CARVED WOOD
    Please Choose:
    o XXL
    o XL
    o L
    o M
    o S

with respect to zencart.... i'd like to setup the products as...

    /mystore.com/wood/obama-bobble-head

    /mystore.com/plastic/obama-bobble-head

i'd like to auto populate the tab with the links... and it would be pretty smooth for the user and for seo...

do you know how to code the tab as such?

the awkward part regarding the pricing...

my second column is almost double the first....

is it possible to have either a base price, no base price... and add a value?

that is where i am getting stuck in any scenario.... if i have a base price... and the user adds an attribute to increase the price... i still can't double the price or discount the the price by half as the attribute is not being added to the base price...

    any workaround?

Whoa... You're running away with yourself.

Come down to earth and just do what's necessary to SELL THIS STUFF...

Forget about attribute grids and unnecessary headers and tabs and all that extraneous gabble...

Focus on what you can do quickly and easily to showcase these products and get customers to buy them.

My suggestion is simple, logical and the most practical in your circumstances.

Stop worrying about the shape of the URL... It means nothing.
