Warning: I am able to write to the configuration file: /configure.php. I set the file to read only then ftped it back and it's still giving me this message. I dunno where I go in the file manager in my hosting.

login to your hosting panel or via ftp, drill down through your folders to the configure.php file, right click and change permissions.

@flyspidert two things:

a) You may be able to change the permissions directly in your FTP client; try right clicking on the file on the right hand (server side) of your FTP client and see if there's a Permissions setting; change to disallow group and other writes.

b) If you change the file's permissions locally in the shell, you still need to refresh the left (local) side of your ftp client to be sure it knows about the new permissions; otherwise these may be cached.

c) Worst comes to worst: in CPanel open File Manager; navigate to your configure.php files and change permissions there.
