Email setup problems with XAMPP

Hi ..
I'm having problems setting up my Email acount on XAMMP lockal server.
SMTP port to use ... 25, or 465, or 587
Dumb question : Do you need to port-forward these ports in your router to you server PC
and do you need to open these ports in your firewall .. !!

Go easy on me please ..

You configure your Zen Cart installation to connect to your email provider using the same settings as one would use for "Outlook", "Outlook Express", "Thunderbird", etc...

If you are just looking to test using XAMMP's email server you can configure XAMPP to send email an then tell Zen Cart to use transport "PHP".

I do my coding mostly from a Microsoft Windows computer these days (performing local testing using WampServer, Xdebug, TestMailServer, Windows Live Mail, and various other applications). I also maintain a couple VMs running various flavors of linux to further test web applications and linux applications...
