Wishlist Security Cleanup

Hello All,
I have been playing around with wishlist mod which does work very well. The problem is the xss security risk that comes along with it.

What is the best practice for cleaning up a mod like this. can I do something like a foreach $_POST strip_tags(thisPost); at the top of each file using any of the $_POST's?
